Foreclosures?

Fibrosa asked:

In the next few months my wife and I will be on the market to buy our first home. In the mean time, I want to educate myself on the process, what to look for and what to watch out for.

We’ve been looking at foreclosed on homes and they look like a steal. This has gotten my spidey-sense tingling though, since if it looks too good to be true, it usually is.

So what’s the deal with Foreclosures? Also, where can I go for the 411 on buying a new home?

Most of the people I know that did that are now facing foreclosure and they laughed at me when I got a cheaper house but more acres than them. It has been real hard not to laugh in their faces, but all of them also are families with kids.

I was wondering if there is a way I can get a foreclosure home and sell it when the market comes up.

Any ideas where the market is fallen a lot and is expected to take a u-turn?

I think that the house behind me has gone into foreclosure. I would like to purchase the property, but every site I visit requires some sort of payment. There are no legit free ones. How can I find out if it has been foreclosed on without embarrasing my neighbors by asking?

I hear lots of radios about buying foreclosed property but all they want to do is sell you books and such. Is there a way to find out about legitimate sources like banks, who have property to sell?

How much money do we really need to buy foreclosures before or at auction?

MaggieMay asked:

We are would be first time investors in real estate and have been studying up the various stages of foreclosure and the ways to buy. We thought we had enough to buy one property for us, and another as an investment, but having learned more about this market generally, and wanting to keep away from the lower priced, lots of repairs options, we are starting to get concerned about our ability to fund this grand plan. We will be able to get a line of credit on the home we would buy as a residence though. What other options have we got when we haven’t time to raise a mortgage to close a deal?
